What is picture messaging and why are you doing it?
Picture Messaging is a very old-skool technology to send graphics of certain specification through SMS to ordinary phones.
We're doing it because:
1. Pictures are better than text (duh..)
2. We love everthing that works on SMS
3. It's an extension of our user generated content that works on SMS idea (now with graphics)
We want you to unleash your creativity such that it's not larger than 72 X 28 (or 78 X 21) pixels and is black and white. ;-)
What's so cool about them?
Firstly, they're pictures (which means that they're worth a thousand words). Secondly, they're sent and received as regular SMS which means that they just work on all phones. No GPRS, data plan, etc. required!
What phones are supported?
It should work for most old and new phones. If you know of a phone where it doesn't work please do let us know.
What networks are supported?
It seems it only works on GSM networks. :(
Where do I find these picture messages?
How about..."The Internet"!?
Can I create my own Picture SMS?
Absolutely! We would really like you to do that. Picture SMS is any ordinary image that you can make in any image editor (gimp, photoshop, paint etc.).
All image formats (jpg, bmp, gif, png etc.) are supported.
Supported Width: 72px or 78px
Supported Height: 15px to 28px
Please upload black and white picture only; colored pictures will be converted and may not look good.
Anything else that I should know of?
Yes! Please do not upload pictures that could be deemed objectionable for public view OR are protected by copyright. In such extreme case we reserve the right to remove the picture from our website without notifying you.
